There's a special kind of peace that comes with starting a show that already got picked up for another season. No cliffhanger betrayal. No checking renewal news at 2 a.m. like a paranoid ex. PennLive put together a list of seven recently renewed shows worth binging right now, and it's a welcome batch of leads.

I don't know what's on the list until I click through, same as you, and I like that. Seven shows, all renewed, all safe to start. I won't spoil the lineup here since PennLive earned the click, but the pitch alone sold me: shows that won't leave you hanging.

A few notes from the couch-potato desk on how to work through something like this. Start with whichever genre you're starving for. If it's been a thin month for you comedy-wise, lead with whatever's funny. If you've been on a reality bender, and I spent most of August on one, the drama picks will hit harder by contrast. Binge order matters more than people think.

Also, and I say this with love: don't hoard these for some perfect weekend that never arrives. The best TV decision I ever made was quitting the "save it for later" habit. Later is a scam. Later is how you end up with 40 saved shows and nothing to watch tonight.

Anyway. Pick one tonight, put the phone down after episode two, and thank me Sunday. What are you starting with?
