Thirty years of Pokemon and the party just keeps going. Game Rant's report says an official Pokemon Company partner has revealed a special multi-region release tied to the franchise's 30th anniversary, the one counted from the original games hitting Japan on February 27, 1996. That's separate from the 30th Celebration line the Trading Card Game is running, and both are happening at the same time, which tells you how big this milestone year has gotten.

Don't circle a single October date on your calendar just yet. Reporting on the anniversary products points to a staggered rollout, with releases landing September 16, October 2, October 30, November 6 and December 4 of this year. So whatever this multi-region piece turns out to be, it arrives as part of a monthslong drip instead of one drop. The multi-region framing itself comes from Game Rant's report, so treat the exact contents as pending until The Pokemon Company spells them out.

Still, sit with what a multi-region release means if the report holds. Every generation came with its own roster of icons, its own box art titan, its own mascots that defined a kid's entire school year. Kanto had Mewtwo lurking in Cerulean Cave. Hoenn had Rayquaza waiting in the Sky Pillar. Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Galar, Paldea, each one added favorites that became someone's absolute number one. A release that spans regions says none of those eras get left behind. And for a community that includes everyone who got a Game Boy in 1996 and kids raising Fuecoco right now, that matters.

I've been around enough anniversary events in MMOs to know the difference between a cash grab and a genuine thank-you to the community. The good ones say "we remember all of it." The bad ones just reskin the same content with a gold logo. A release reaching across regions reads like the first kind to me. It's the Pokemon version of a raid tier where every expansion's boss shows up one more time, and those patches are always the ones my raid group talks about for months.

Details on exactly what's included and full pricing are still trickling out, so keep an eye on the official Pokemon channels as those rollout dates approach.

If this lands right, it's going to be a rough few months for my wallet and a great one for my display shelf. Which favorite from your first region are you hoping shows up? For me it'll always be Lugia, and I will not be taking questions.
