A crossover I didn't have on my bingo card. A new release for the 2019 Resident Evil 2 remake adds Bryan, the lead of the recent Resident Evil movie, into the game as a playable character, according to Game Rant.

If you need a second to remember the movie, that's fair. Zach Cregger's Resident Evil arrived with real momentum this month, and it did that while leaning on its lead instead of a marquee name, which almost never happens with a video game adaptation. Bryan carried the whole thing. Now you can drop him straight into the Raccoon City Police Department and let him deal with Mr. X personally, which honestly sounds like a blast.

What I like is the loop it closes. Game inspires movie, movie star returns to game. The remake came out in 2019 and could have quietly settled into legacy status by now. Instead it's getting fresh attention because the movie connected with people. It's the entertainment ouroboros and I mean that affectionately.

No word yet on whether this stays a fun bonus or becomes part of some bigger tie-in push, but who cares. It's here and it works.

If you've never played the RE2 remake, this is a weirdly good excuse to fix that, and now you can do it while pretending the movie and the game always lived in the same universe. So is this weekend a Digger-and-zombies double feature? Sounds right to me.
