Alien: Covenant is officially on Peacock as of September 1, so if you've been meaning to revisit the one Alien sequel that starts arguments at parties, your moment has arrived. Collider reported the move (via MSN), and people are clearly still watching this thing years later. Voluntarily, even.

If you need a refresher (or blocked it out): Covenant is the sequel where Ridley Scott came back after Prometheus, Michael Fassbender played two different androids obsessed with each other, and the whole movie is basically a philosophical argument about creation wrapped inside a horror movie. also there's a shower scene that ruined a lot of people's evening.

And the divisiveness is real. Half of everyone thinks it's a gorgeous, mean little meditation on arrogance where the scariest character isn't the xenomorph, it's David. The other half thinks Scott took a horror franchise and turned it into a lecture. I fall somewhere in the middle but lean toward the first group, sorry. David and Walter alone are worth the runtime, like Fassbender was operating at full mad-scientist capacity and nobody talks about it enough.

The Peacock landing is interesting mostly because it just... showed up. Peacock has been building out its horror shelf in general and the timing lines up with the franchise having a moment again. Somebody at these streamers knows what they're doing.

Quick spoiler-free pitch if you've never seen it: it's the bridging chapter between Prometheus and the original Alien, it's way nastier than Prometheus ever was, and it has one of the bleakest endings in the entire franchise. and I mean bleak even for a series where bleak is basically the brand.

It's streaming now, no rental dance, no "leaving soon" panic. Watch it, then text a friend about the flute scene and watch them lose their mind.
