quick one because I'm already behind on my queue today, but this is worth knowing about: Apocalypse Z: New World is officially happening, teaser out, premiere date October 30 on Prime Video. that's this month, so basically no waiting.

If the title sounds vaguely familiar but you can't place it, same. The first Apocalypse Z was a Spanish zombie movie based on Manel Loureiro's novels, Francisco Ortiz playing Manel, a lawyer surviving the end of the world with his cat. everyone talked about the cat. And it's been gaining popularity worldwide, per Comic Basics, which put together everything we know about the sequel so far.

So now New World. Teaser's out, October 30 on Prime Video, same platform as the first. I'm not going to pretend I know plot details that haven't been confirmed yet, but if you've seen the first one you know the lane: survival horror with an emotional core and a cat everyone is deeply invested in. Is the cat back... I'd assume so, and I know I'm not alone in that, but assume is the operative word until the movie actually drops.

Ortiz is back as Manel and the marketing is leaning on that duo energy again, which, correct choice. There's a whole subset of viewers (me) who spent the entire first movie more stressed about the cat than any human character. My grandma raised me on sci-fi and she'd have been the same way, no question.

Should you care? I think yes, with a small asterisk. The first movie is solid mid-budget zombie stuff. Not Train to Busan tier, nobody's claiming that, but it's paced well, it looks better than it should, and it takes its survival logistics seriously in a way a lot of streaming horror doesn't. If the sequel keeps that up, this could quietly become Spain's next big genre franchise the way Rec did forever ago.

Anyway. Teaser's out, October 30 is the date, and there's a whole internet full of people (hi) hoping the cat is okay. we all know that's what actually matters here.
