Some weeks you get nothing. Other weeks the whole release calendar dumps on you at once. August 4 is one of those days where PS5 owners need to check their bank accounts and figure out what they actually have time for.

According to Gamerant, several titles are hitting PlayStation 5 on the same Tuesday, and while none of them are system sellers in the God of War Laufey tier, there's enough variety that most players will find at least one thing worth a look.

Reminds me of back in the SNES days when you'd walk into Funcoland and the entire wall of new releases would just appear on a single Tuesday in September. You'd save up lawn-mowing money for weeks and then five games you wanted would all land the same day. Some things never change I guess. Except now nobody has to convince their mom to drive them to the store.

The source doesn't break down exactly what's coming, just that several games are dropping across genres. What we do know is that at least one PS Plus Essential title is part of the batch. Do you spend money on the new release you've been eyeing, or do you download the included PS Plus title first and see if that scratches the itch? Smart players will let the subscription games hold them over while they wait for reviews on the paid stuff.

My advice, same as it always is when a bunch of stuff lands at once: don't buy everything on day one. Pick the one you're most excited about, grab it, and wishlist the rest. Sales happen. Patient gamers eat well. The game you're iffy about today will probably be cheaper in a few months, and it'll be patched and running better by then too.

August 4. Clear your evening.
