Bethesda is back with more Doom: The Dark Ages merch, and this time it's a big one. The publisher just announced an official $179.99 Atlan statue, giving fans a physical piece of the game's most over-the-top power fantasy. Game Rant has the full rundown if you want the details straight from the source.

If you played The Dark Ages, you know exactly why the Atlan deserves this treatment. Piloting a giant war mech and stomping through demon hordes was the moment half my Discord lost its collective mind last year. Somebody in my raid group screenshotted their Atlan loadout and made it their avatar for like three months. The Atlan sequences were the loud, dumb, wonderful centerpiece of an already loud, dumb, wonderful game, and a statue capturing that energy makes more sense than another Slayer figure might.

The statue runs $179.99, which puts it firmly in "I need to justify this to someone" collector territory. That's not an impulse buy. That's a conversation with your bank account, or your partner, or both. But for the folks who sunk dozens of hours into The Dark Ages and still hum the soundtrack while doing dishes, this is the kind of shelf piece that starts conversations when friends come over.

It also fits a pattern. Bethesda has kept The Dark Ages in the conversation all year, between the DLC price cut we covered back in July and a steady drip of physical goods. The game launched to a strong reception, and id Software's medieval-era Slayer chapter clearly earned itself a devoted corner of the community. Companies don't greenlight a $180 statue for a game nobody cares about.

Worth noting this is a preorder-style collector release, so if you're in, you're probably in early. These things have a way of selling through and then living on resale sites at double the price, and I've watched enough guildmates rage about missing limited runs to know how that story ends.

Is a big mech statue for everyone? No. But nothing about Doom has ever been for everyone, and that's kind of the point. The Slayer doesn't do subtle, and neither does a giant Atlan looming over your figure shelf.

Now I want to know, what's the priciest piece of game merch you've ever actually pulled the trigger on? Drop it in the comments. Mine's a FFXIV fat cat plush I refuse to apologize for.
