Didn't have "Robert Pattinson plays Chris Hansen in an A24 movie, and the real Chris Hansen hates it" on my fall bingo card, but here we are.

The longtime To Catch a Predator host finally caught a screening of Primetime, the new A24 film where Pattinson plays a controversial television figure clearly modeled on him, and per The Washington Times and Variety, his reaction was blunt. The Hollywood Reporter and Yahoo have the same story. He called the movie "bizarre" and made it clear he's no fan of the portrayal. You can read the full breakdown over at MSN's coverage.

I've been curious about this one since it was announced, mostly because Pattinson has spent the last decade becoming the most interesting risk-taker in Hollywood. Look at the run: sparkling vampire, then a lighthouse keeper losing his mind in black and white, then a cape-wearing insomniac billionaire. Now a real TV personality famous for ambush interviews and asking guys to "have a seat over there"? Fits him like a glove. Weird glove, but it fits.

What gets me is the meta-layer of it all. A movie about a TV figure whose whole brand was hidden cameras and uncomfortable confrontations, starring one of the most famous actors alive, and now the man himself has watched it and walked away baffled. I mean, I can't imagine sitting through two hours of an A-lister doing an impression of my career and coming out the other side with a shrug either.

If you want to judge for yourself, the timing couldn't be more on the nose. Hansen caught the film at a Thursday-night screening, one day ahead of its nationwide theatrical opening on Friday, per The Washington Times.

In the meantime, I'm just picturing Pattinson deadpanning "why don't you have a seat" in that mumbly voice of his. If that moment isn't in the movie, what are we even doing here.
