The trade deadline has come and gone, and now we get to see what these rosters actually look like on the field. Funny how that works. You spend two weeks tracking rumors, analyzing prospects, debating who won and who lost, and then everybody just has to go play baseball.

Tonight's slate gives us a nice mix of teams with something to prove. Covers has their expert picks up with moneyline, run line, and Over/Under predictions for July 31, and a few of these lines caught my eye.

The Dodgers always get attention on a Friday night. Los Angeles has the kind of roster that demands respect no matter where they stand in any given week, and the moneyline price usually reflects that. When you're looking at a franchise with that kind of history, you start searching for value on the run line or the total. That's just the reality of backing a team the market loves.

The Brewers are a different animal. Milwaukee has had that grinding, blue-collar identity for as long as I can remember. They don't overwhelm you with star power but they find ways to win games they have no business winning. I've watched enough Brewers baseball over the decades to know you underestimate them at your own peril. Their games can be tight 2-1 slogs one night and 9-4 slugfests the next, which makes them a real headache if you're trying to figure out an Over/Under.

And then there are the Rangers. Texas has been chasing a playoff spot all season and the post-deadline roster is what they're rolling with down the stretch. Every club in that race had to decide whether to go for it or hold tight, and the Rangers are living with whatever choice they made. Now they have to back it up on the field.

The thing about post-deadline baseball is it takes a few days for the chemistry to settle. A new catcher working with a pitching staff, a reliever learning his role in the bullpen, a bat getting slotted into a different spot in the lineup. It's not instant soup. Sometimes the teams that made the splashiest moves take a week to find their footing, and the clubs that stood pat play loose because nobody messed with their rhythm.

If you're looking at tonight's picks, keep those dynamics in mind. A team working in new pieces against a club that's been together since April can create some real value on the board. The numbers tell you one thing. The clubhouse tells you another.

The rosters are set. Now the real season starts.
