If you've somehow dodged every leak, trailer, and map-size argument of the past two years, USA Today has a solid catch-up on where things stand with Grand Theft Auto VI. The short version: November 19, 2026, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Mark it, plan your PTO around it, warn your family.

The long version hasn't moved much since Rockstar locked the date. GTA 6 takes us back to Vice City with dual protagonists Jason and Lucia, a Bonnie-and-Clyde setup that already has fan theorists running wild. We covered the extended gameplay look that debuted on Netflix earlier this week, and the reception was, well, positive to the point of suspicious. Even the usual doom-posters had a hard time finding things to complain about.

Now the question every PC player keeps asking. Is GTA 6 coming to PC? Almost certainly, eventually, but not on November 19. Rockstar has not announced a PC version. Before you rage-type a reply, remember this is the company that shipped GTA 5 on consoles in September 2013 and didn't bring it to PC until April 2015. Red Dead Redemption 2 followed the same script, consoles first, then a PC port more than a year later. The pattern is so consistent it might as well be company policy.

So if you're a keyboard-and-mouse loyalist, the realistic play is a wait of one to two years. That stings, I know. I remember importing Japanese carts to play FF games early because I couldn't stand the wait, so I get the itch. But Rockstar ports tend to arrive with the kinks worked out and mod support waiting in the wings, which is more than console players get at launch.

Online is the other big question. GTA Online became a monster that outlived about three console generations, so you can bet a GTA 6 Online component is coming. Rockstar hasn't laid out the full post-launch plan yet, and given how they drip-fed content for a decade on GTA 5, expect a slow reveal rather than a roadmap dumped at launch.

One thing I'll keep watching is the price. The $80 question, which I wrote about recently, is whether GTA 6 cements a new standard price point for the whole industry. Take-Two has every incentive to test it with the biggest release of the decade, and everyone else is watching to see if players actually pay it. Based on the pre-order noise so far, they will.

November 19 is a Thursday, by the way. Old-schoolers will appreciate that. Big games used to launch on Tuesdays like clockwork, back when you actually drove to a store and hoped the shipment arrived. Now publishers drop blockbusters whenever they want, and Rockstar picked a date that gives everyone a long weekend in Vice City.

Eighty-some days to go. I've been there for every mainline GTA launch since the top-down originals, and I can't remember the wait feeling this loud. See you at the midnight unlock.
