Streaming queue check: this week is actually stacked? After a couple dry weeks we've got a Vijay movie landing, a true crime thing about El Chapo, and a rom-com that's been all over my feed. Per Business Standard's roundup, here's what's worth your couch time.

Big one first. Vijay's Jana Nayagan is finally hitting OTT after its massive theatrical run. If you missed it on the big screen (or if ticket prices got you like they got everyone this summer, I wrote a whole thing about that), this is your catch-up moment. Vijay doesn't really do small movies, so expect scale, expect the fan-service moments, and expect your group chat to spoil at least one scene before you get to it. watch it fast.

Then there's Facing El Chapo, a crime thriller leaning hard into the true crime lane. I'll be upfront, I haven't screened this one yet, but the premise alone (cartel kingpin story from an angle we haven't fully gotten on streaming) has it on my list. You know I'm a sucker for the mid-budget thriller stuff anyway, that's where the actual good stuff hides. The big titles market themselves; weird little crime dramas need someone to say go watch. so consider this me saying it.

Chennai Love Story rounds out the top three and this might be the sleeper pick of the week. Romance set in Chennai, vibes-forward, the kind of thing that either becomes your comfort watch or disappears into the algorithm forever. no in between with these. I'm rooting for comfort watch.

Quick hits beyond the headliners: there's more in the full slate, including a few regional picks that keep getting buried under the bigger names. Which, side note, is exactly what happens with the Netflix mid-budget stuff I keep yelling about. Scroll past the billboard row. The good stuff is three rows down, always.

So priority order if you're only doing one night of watching this week: Jana Nayagan if you want the event movie, Facing El Chapo if you want tension, Chennai Love Story if you want something soft. Three very different moods, one very full weekend.

I'm starting with Jana Nayagan tonight and yes, I'll report back. I always do.
