Some pairings just work. Lindsay Lohan and Mark Waters are making another movie together, and this one actually comes with details. MSN has the news: the film is called Return to You, it's a romance, it's headed to Netflix, and Lohan stars opposite Henry Golding.

If you grew up in the early 2000s, this is a big deal. Waters is the guy who put maybe the best movie-star run of Lohan's career on screen. Freaky Friday in 2003, where she and Jamie Lee Curtis traded bodies and somehow made it look easy, then Mean Girls in 2004, which people are still quoting at each other twenty-plus years later. Cady Heron alone locked in her legacy.

The two haven't worked together since, which is wild when you think about it. Over 20 years between collaborations for a duo this fruitful. Waters kept busy, Lohan went through, well, everything we all watched her go through, and now here they are circling back.

And the timing feels right. Lohan's comeback has been quietly building for a few years. The Netflix deal, the rom-coms, Mean Girls showing up again in musical form. She's been choosing projects that fit her instead of chasing whatever was left over, and you can see the difference on screen.

A romance with Henry Golding makes sense for where she is right now. Golding's got charm to burn, he's proven he can carry this kind of thing, and pairing him with Lohan feels like Netflix casting two people who actually know what movie they're in. Whether Waters brings the comic edge he sharpened on those early Lohan films into a love story, I have no idea, but I'm curious to find out.

That's the part I keep coming back to. Lohan's comic timing was always underrated because she made it look effortless, and Waters knows exactly how to shoot her. There's a shorthand there. You could see it in every scene they did together, the trust. That doesn't come around often between a director and an actor, and it's worth getting excited about before we even know the plot.

No release date yet. These things take their time. I'll keep an eye on it and update you the second a synopsis or more casting drops.

In the meantime, tell me you didn't rewatch Mean Girls at some point this month. On Wednesdays, we wear pink and wait for release dates.
