Apple TV+ has a weirdly stacked little week coming up and I'm not even being dramatic about it. The big one is Mayday, the Ryan Reynolds movie finally making its way to the platform, but the one I know half my group chat is actually waiting on is the Silo Season 3 finale. Both land within days of each other. Whoever is scheduling over at Apple knew exactly what they were doing.

Silo first, because I have a review to write about it and I've been mentally preparing all week. The Season 3 finale drops Friday, September 4, and if you've been following my stuff you know I already called this show one of the rare ones where every season escalates without getting dumb about it. So no spoilers here, obviously, but the back half of this season has been rough in the best way. Like, yelling-at-my-TV rough. If you somehow haven't started it yet you have about a week to binge the first two seasons plus everything released of season 3 so far, and real talk? Doable. People have done worse labor day weekends.

Then Mayday. Reynolds doing his thing, which at this point is a genre unto itself. I know some people are tired of the whole shtick and I get it, but when he's actually locked into a good script the guy delivers, and I'm going in with decent expectations of my own. If it's a chill Sunday night watch situation, Apple just handed you one. The couch exists for movies like this. The theatrical crowd stuff I keep going on about, that's for the big event films. This is a snacks-and-pajamas movie and there's a place for that too.

Beyond those two, Apple's got the usual sprinkle of extras landing throughout the week of August 31 through September 6. New TV and movie additions rolling out day by day, which is the standard Apple move, they never dump everything at once like Netflix does. Sometimes that's annoying. Sometimes it's nice to have a reason to open the app on a random Wednesday.

Quick scheduling note since I've had people ask: the Silo finale lands Friday, September 4. Plan around that. Don't log on Wednesday thinking it's already up and get mad at the app. Ask me how I know. (It was a different show. The anger was the same.)

Also, and I keep saying this every time Apple comes up, this is quietly becoming the platform with the most consistent quality-per-title ratio out there. Not the biggest library, not even close. But the hit rate is genuinely good in a way that some of the bigger services stopped being a while ago. My grandma Elizabeth has a whole theory about how too many options ruin a service and the Apple catalog is kind of proof, if you ask her. Small, curated, mostly hits.

So that's your week. Mayday for the Reynolds fans, Silo for everyone who's been holding their breath since episode seven, and a handful of smaller drops to fill the gaps. I'll have full unfiltered thoughts on the Silo finale as soon as I've seen it, because you know I don't hype something I haven't actually sat with. Watch party plans, start making them now.
