paramount+ quietly dropped some solid stuff this week and the one everyones suddenly talking about is Bleed for This, the 2016 Miles Teller boxing movie that kind of got buried when it first came out. if you never caught it, now's your chance.

Teller plays Vinny Pazienza, a real boxer who broke his neck in a car crash and then... just kept fighting. like, against doctor's orders. against basic common sense. the man had a halo screwed into his skull and still wanted to train. it sounds like one of those over-the-top sports movie plots except it actually happened, and Teller commits to it completely. Ben Younger directed and you've got Aaron Eckhart playing Pazienza's coach in a role where he's basically unrecognizable. I straight up did not know that was him for an embarrassing amount of time.

the movie didn't get the love it deserved when it came out. I watched it recently and the fight sequences are shot in this raw, suffocating way that puts you right in the ring. Teller's performance genuinely got under my skin. I forgot I was watching an actor, which is not a thing that happens to me easily.

I've said before that Jason Statham is great because he commits to the intensity without worrying about being likable, and Teller does something similar here. He plays Pazienza as stubborn to the point of being unlikable, and the movie doesn't try to sand that down into some feel-good inspirational story. It's a movie about someone who refuses to stop and it doesn't apologize for how reckless that is.

Per the AOL rundown, Paramount+ added a batch of other titles this week too. The source doesn't name them specifically so I can't point you to anything particular, but it's a refresh if you've been scrolling past the same home screen for three weeks straight.

streaming discovery is genuinely broken at this point so I'm not gonna pretend I know what else is worth your time from the full list without watching. but Bleed for This I can vouch for. if you like boxing movies, or if you just want to see Miles Teller do something completely unhinged for two hours, queue it up tonight.
