Co-op fans, a new name for the watchlist. A game called Canyons has been confirmed for a November 2027 release, and a trailer dropped alongside the news. GameRant has the details, and its coverage describes the project as a PvE co-op survival game, which is the framing I'm running with here since that's all we've got to go on so far.

I'll be upfront about my bias: co-op survival is my comfort food genre. I've spent entire weekends in Valheim with my raid group, and some of my favorite Discord memories are wipe nights where nobody accomplished anything and everybody logged off happy. So a new survival game with an actual release date attached gets my attention in a way vague announcement teases usually don't.

The detail worth flagging is the date itself. A firm November 2027 date, announced now, suggests the studio isn't chasing the early access treadmill that so many survival games fall onto. You know the pattern: launch into early access with a burst of hype, drip updates for two years, half the player base moves on. If Canyons is holding for a full launch window, that reads as a studio being deliberate about what it ships. I've stopped pre-building hype for games without release dates, so this one clears my admittedly low bar for getting interested.

The PvE framing matters too, assuming it holds. The survival space has been flooded with PvP extraction games the last few years, and the co-op side has felt a little underfed by comparison. Valheim, Raft, and Grounded each found big audiences of people who just want to build, scavenge, and survive alongside friends without the sweatiest player in the lobby ruining the evening. If Canyons lands in that lane in 2027, the timing feels right for it.

What we don't know is basically everything else. Player count, crafting depth, progression, setting, whether there's a story threaded through the loop, none of that has been laid out yet. The name suggests canyons, and I'll cop to being curious whether that means desert terrain and vertical traversal, but that's me guessing, not reporting. I'd rather sit with the guess than dress it up as fact this early.

For now it goes on the list, and I'll be watching for the first real gameplay breakdown. A trailer and a date is a start. From here, the systems are the story.

What's your group's current rotation, by the way? If your crew is anything like mine, you're one good co-op survival game away from resurrecting the server. Maybe this is the one.
