Nolan North wants back in, and honestly the man has earned the right to say whatever he wants about Nathan Drake. In an interview via MSN, the voice behind gaming's most charming treasure hunter said he'd "absolutely" reprise the role if Sony came knocking, and he thinks a new sequel would be "one of the biggest games ever."

Hard to argue with him. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End wrapped things up so cleanly in 2016 that a sequel felt impossible without undoing the ending, and yet here we are, nearly a decade later, with the fan appetite somehow bigger than ever. The franchise never cooled off in my corner of the internet, and judging by how fast North's comments made the rounds, I'm not alone in that.

There's real weight behind North's take, too, beyond actor optimism. He knows the character better than almost anyone at this point, having played Nathan across four mainline games, the Vita spinoff, and a cameo in basically every PlayStation crossover event Sony could squeeze him into. When the guy who lived in the role for a decade says a sequel could be an all-timer, you listen.

The open question is what shape it would take. A Thief's End closed Nathan's book about as definitively as games ever close anything, and a Lost Legacy-style follow-up with Cassie or Sam feels more plausible than dragging Nathan out of retirement again. Or Sony hands it to a new studio entirely, the way it did with the movie, and Naughty Dog stays in a supervisory role. North could still voice an older Nathan framing the story, which, let's be real, would break the internet for a week.

None of this is confirmed, to be clear. This is an actor saying yes to a hypothetical, which is the oldest and most beloved tradition in games journalism. But it's Nolan North saying yes, and the door is clearly not closed on his side.

Personally, I'd love one more ride. Some of my favorite co-op memories are Uncharted 2 and 3's multiplayer modes, back when my whole guild-adjacent friend group ran survival maps until 2 a.m. Would you take a new Uncharted with a fresh lead, or does it only count if North's behind the mic? I know where I land.
