Polygon is publishing an in-depth look at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation before the end of August, and people are already buzzing. They confirmed the coverage is coming later this month. That's all we know for sure right now, and honestly that's enough to get the conversation going.

As for what exactly "in-depth look" means in practice, we're in wait-and-see mode.

Your guess is as good as mine on what the coverage will actually include. I'm hoping we get something substantial, maybe extended footage or even a hands-on preview, but Polygon hasn't specified the format. I'd love to see how Revelation builds on what came before it in combat, exploration, and story. The previous entries raised big narrative questions, and I think a lot of us are eager to see how the team ties things together. Whether any of that gets addressed in Polygon's coverage, though, is anyone's guess.

TJ and I have been going back and forth about the Remake project since the first game dropped. He's a classic FFV purist who played it in Japanese in the 90s, and I'm the MMO raid leader who thinks FFXIV's storytelling sets the gold standard for the franchise. But we actually agree on one thing: the Remake trilogy has earned the benefit of the doubt so far. I personally thought Rebirth was an ambitious game that took real swings, even when not every single one connected. Your mileage may vary, and I know plenty of people who'd push back on that.

The remake games have genuinely reshaped what a Final Fantasy story can feel like, sometimes for better and sometimes for heated Discord debate. A proper in-depth look could tell us whether Square Enix is tightening the focus or going even bigger. Or it might be something else entirely. We just don't know yet.

Either way, late August just became a circle-on-your-calendar moment for the FF7 community. If Polygon's coverage delivers something meaty, you can bet the analysis videos, the reaction threads, and the very loud opinions are coming right behind it.

So keep your eyes on that Polygon drop later this month. I'll be reading every word of it, probably twice, and then immediately checking what my Discord thinks. Because that's what this series has always been about for me. The game itself, and then the conversation that follows.
