Mob Entertainment finally gave Escape From Playtime a date, and it's coming in hot: October 13, 2026. That's under a month out. For a fanbase that's been waiting on a firm date, the turnaround is honestly a nice shock.

In case you haven't been keeping up with the toy aisle of horror, Escape From Playtime is a spinoff set inside the same Playtime Co. nightmare as the mainline series, but built as a multiplayer experience. The pitch has always sounded like a horror take on asymmetric co-op: a crew of survivors trying to get out of the factory while something big, blue, and grinning hunts them down. Basically the exact energy of Huggy Wuggy chasing you through vents, except now it's your friend on Discord screaming instead of a chat message.

The report from MSN confirms the October 13 date applies to the early access build, with the announcement made at the Tokyo Game Show. Beyond that, the developers haven't said what comes next, so how the early access period shapes up is an open question worth watching.

What interests me most is the timing. October 13 lands right in the middle of horror season, comfortably ahead of GTA 6 later this fall. Slotting a co-op horror spinoff into early October is smart, it gets weeks of streamers, Halloween watch parties, and squad nights before the big rock lands. We've watched this fall calendar turn into a traffic jam, and the games finding room are the ones picking their lanes early.

And there's a community angle here that feels obvious once you see it. Poppy Playtime's audience runs young, loud, and extremely online, the same crowd that keeps games like Dead by Daylight and Phasmophobia alive as permanent group activities. A spinoff built for lobbies instead of solo play meets that audience where it already lives. The scariest thing in any of these games is still your friend's microphone volume when something jumps out, and now there's a whole game built around that moment.

No word yet on pricing, platforms beyond what's been shown, or which monsters make the cut, so keep an eye out as October 13 gets closer. I'll update once Mob Entertainment shares more.
