Prime Video is not waiting around on this one. The streamer just handed a Season 2 renewal to one of its newest shows, and the whole thing premiered literally weeks ago. like, some shows wait years in renewal limbo refreshing their own twitter mentions, and this one got the call before most people even finished episode three.

Yahoo Entertainment has the full rundown, but the short version is the show came out, people watched, people talked, and Prime Video did the math and moved fast. Streaming numbers are usually a black box so we never get actual figures, but renewals this quick basically tell on themselves. You don't greenlight a second season three weeks in unless something's working behind the curtain.

I find these fast renewals interesting because they're basically the streaming version of a standing ovation. Traditional networks would make a show sweat through a full season and a ratings cycle before deciding anything. now if a series hits the top ten and stays there, boom, done, announcement tweet drafted by Friday.

It's also just good business when you think about it. everyone's subscription budget is stretched thin right now, mine included, and a quick renewal tells viewers that investing time in season one won't feel like a waste. nothing worse than getting hooked on something that quietly vanishes after eight episodes. still not over a few of those. not naming names because I will get upset.

No premiere window for season 2 yet, which is normal, these things take forever to write and shoot. But the cast and crew get job security, the fans get some peace of mind, and Prime Video gets to look confident. everybody eats.

I'll keep an eye out for filming dates and a release window once they start moving on it. and if I catch up on season one this weekend I'll tell you if the hype is real or if Prime Video panicked. I've been wrong about renewal-worthy shows before... don't ask about that one either.
