Alan Ritchson is back, and some people just need to hear that and their week is set. Reacher Season 4 hits Prime Video this week, making it the obvious headline for the platform's August 10 to August 16 slate.

Nobody's reinventing the wheel with Reacher, and that's fine, that's the whole idea. Big guy rolls into a new town, clocks that something's off, and starts breaking arms until the problem goes away. The show knows what it is and it delivers on that promise every time. I wrote about Motor City recently and how Ritchson has basically cornered the market on this kind of physically imposing, no-nonsense character. Reacher is still the crown jewel though.

The Amazon description doesn't give away much about the new season, but it does confirm the fourth season is dropping this week. That's a fast turnaround for a show that only wrapped its third season recently, and Amazon clearly knows what they have here because they are not sitting on it.

Beyond Reacher, Prime Video is filling out the rest of the week with the usual catalog additions and a few newer titles. Jess Wingo would probably tell me to list them all out in a nice tidy format, but I keep things loose around here. The point is if you've been waiting for the big guy to come back, this is your week.

I'll be watching the new season the way I always do, which means I'll probably blow through the first three episodes on Friday night with a plate of leftovers and then wonder where the weekend went. Reacher is comfort food. It's a big steak dinner of a show. Sometimes that's exactly what the couch is calling for.
