Here we go again. The PC build for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy has reportedly leaked onto the internet a full week before release, and yes, that means gameplay and story spoilers are already out there in the usual corners of the web.

If you've been with Asobo Studio's series since Innocence back in 2019, you know why this one stings. A Plague Tale lives and dies on its story beats, the quiet moments between Amicia and Hugo, the gut-punch reveals the games hand out carefully across a dozen hours. A leak like this doesn't spoil a map or a gun balance patch. It spoils the thing the game actually is.

The report says the leaked build is the real deal, and footage is already making the rounds. I'm not going to describe what's in it, and I'd suggest you don't go hunting either. Mute keywords, curate your feeds hard for the next seven days, and stay out of the comment sections under any Resonance video. The rats in this game are less dangerous than the ones posting spoilers.

This is, depressingly, a rite of passage now. Rockstar deals with it. Naughty Dog dealt with it, badly, before The Last of Us Part II. Nintendo had those Zelda leaks. When your game ships to manufacturing, distribution partners and press channels weeks early, there are just more hands on it, and eventually one of those hands has a capture card and bad intentions. Publishers have gotten better at watermarking review builds but retail-side leaks keep slipping through anyway.

I keep thinking about how the original Plague Tale landed. Nobody knew what it was going into 2019, and that surprise was half the magic, this little AA stealth-adventure from a studio mostly known for racing game ports suddenly swinging for the fences with a rat-plague medieval horror story. Requiem followed in 2022 and proved it wasn't a fluke. Resonance is the first entry where a big chunk of the audience shows up day one already invested, which makes a story leak hurt that much more.

So far no official word from Asobo or publisher Focus Entertainment, and I'm not sure what they could even say. You can't un-leak a build. Best anyone can hope for is that the footage floating around is rough enough, missing audio, placeholder assets, whatever, that it doesn't represent the finished game anyway.

The launch hasn't moved as far as anyone's reported. If you pre-ordered it or were planning to grab it next week, nothing about this leak changes the game you'll be playing. It only changes how careful you have to be online between now and then.

Stay off the forums. Feed the rats nothing.
