Preseason finale rules, everybody. Starters mostly sit, the whole thing turns into a fourth-quarter coin flip between guys who'll be selling insurance by October, and every snap is somebody's job interview. Covers has the full breakdown of the Seahawks-Chiefs line, and per usual the pricing on these finales runs tighter than you'd expect for a game nobody's game-planning for.

Why? Because the books know the third preseason game is basically a futures market on undrafted free agents. They shade everything toward a pick'em and let the sharps fight over the scraps.

My angle hasn't changed since I wrote up the Week 2 takeaways: first-team role usage matters, garbage-time box scores don't. In a finale that flips a bit. What you're actually betting on is depth chart order in the second half, and the coaching situations tell you more than any stat sheet. Andy Reid's staff has always struck me as treating this game like a joint practice they can't cancel, and Seattle clearly has roster-sorting to do at the margins. Yahoo's camp coverage had Noah Igbinoghene running out of time with the team heading into Friday, which tells you the back end of that depth chart was genuinely unsettled.

The lean, if you want it: home team in the finale. Purely a gut read, but I like Kansas City's situation. Settled coaching staff, home building, backups who've been in the same system for years. I'd stay away from the total entirely, because finale scoring is the least predictable thing in football. One coordinator decides to run the ball 15 straight times in the fourth and your over is dead by 10 points.

Standard disclaimer since I'm the guy who tracks his receipts, not a tout: this is entertainment analysis, not financial advice, and preseason is the sportsbook's favorite week for a reason. If you played my model leans last year you know I eat losses right alongside the wins.

Also, quick programming note. I'm still watching those rookie tight ends and pass-catching backs who earned first-team reps this preseason, and a Chiefs-Seahawks finale was exactly the kind of game where one of those guys pops for a fantasy-relevant role. If a Seattle reserve carved out a role Friday night, that's a name for your watch list, not your lineup. Early season is about floors, not ceilings, and the preseason finale is the floor-est floor there is.

What'd you see from the fourth-stringers, and did anybody talk you into a finale bet? Tell me I'm wrong in the comments. I keep score.
