Sony just ran a State of Play double header, which feels a bit like your aunt serving dinner and dessert at the same time. Wonderful, but you need a minute to keep up. Engadget has the full rundown, and I went through it with my morning coffee so you don't have to scroll through every trailer twice.

The headliners were the expansion news. Sony showed off expansions for both Crimson Desert and Ghost of Yōtei, which is a lovely bit of news for anyone who already loves those worlds. I don't yet know the finer details, release dates, pricing, what's actually in each expansion, because the full breakdown lives in the roundup linked above. When I know more, you'll know more. That's a promise.

Then there's the Grand Theft Auto 6 news, which is where my sassy side wakes up a little. Sony showed off GTA 6 controllers, and I'd wager these will sell like hotcakes no matter what they look like. Themed controllers are the oldest trick in the book. I remember metallic purple consoles and game-branded pads going back decades, but people love them, and if a special controller makes someone happy, that's their money and their joy. I'd just gently suggest the game itself might deserve the budget first.

Beyond those big names, the broadcast packed in more announcements too. That grab-bag portion of these shows is the one I enjoy most, the smaller items that would otherwise get buried under the blockbusters. Every tech era I've lived through has worked this way. The flashy headline stuff gets the spotlight, and the quiet gems are what you're still playing a year later.

Should you watch the replays yourself? If you own a PS5, sure, the trailers are worth fifteen minutes. If you're more casual about it, the roundups (like the one linked above) will catch you up fine. Technology should work for you, and that includes not making you sit through an entire broadcast when a summary does the job.

I'll be keeping an eye on both expansions as details firm up, and I suspect we haven't heard the last of the GTA 6 accessory news. When Jess asks which controller to pre-order, I'll have an answer ready. She keeps me on her toes about these things... she's the reason I know half the release dates I know.
