Star Wars is back in two days and no, not on a screen. Topps is dropping a new Chrome set loaded with autograph cards, and Collider has the first look at the signature cards right now.

if you know trading cards you already know Chrome is the one people fight over. The shiny refractor finish, the on-card autos, the whole gamble of ripping packs hoping you pull something good. it's basically loot boxes for people who like holding the thing they won.

The signature lineup is the draw here. We're talking actors from across the saga putting actual pen to actual card, and Chrome sets have a track record of pulling names you don't expect. Like you buy the pack for one auto and walk away obsessed with someone from a movie you haven't thought about since 2005. it happens every time.

The set goes live this week, so if you want day-one boxes, now's the moment to set an alarm. These tend to sell through fast and then the secondhand prices get ugly. I've watched it happen with basically every Chrome drop this year and I will never learn, I'll be refreshing right alongside everyone else.

My grandma raised me on the idea that if you're gonna collect something, collect the stuff people actually sign with their own hands, not the mass printed filler. On-card autographs hold their value and their meaning way better. this is just the card version of that same rule.

Dante walked past my desk while I had the images open and said cards aren't movies. Dante also thinks a movie needs to be three hours long to count, so. his opinions are on probation.

Anyway. new Star Wars stuff, this week, actual signatures. Check the Collider piece for the full card images and keep an eye on Topps' official drop time before the resellers eat everything.
