Some bands you discover late and then spend weeks kicking yourself for not knowing about sooner. That was me with The Bures Band about two years ago. A friend whose taste I trust blindly put one of their tracks on a road trip playlist and I spent the next twenty minutes interrogating her about who exactly this was. Now here we are, and they've got a third album called Ozonia landing August 28 through Love Police Records & Tapes, plus a new single already out in the world.

Not a lot of detail out yet on what Ozonia sounds like as a full record, which I actually appreciate. I've said this before but I genuinely like when artists keep things close to the chest rather than spoiling the whole album cycle before release day. The new single is apparently a good indicator of the direction, though I haven't sat with it properly yet. Been one of those weeks where my watchlist and playlist are both backing up. I'll get there.

The album drops August 28, and then they're hitting the road for a national tour through October. Tour dates haven't been fully mapped out in the announcement, but Noise11 has the early details on what's confirmed so far.

Love Police Records & Tapes feels like the right home for this band. They've got a roster that leans into stuff with texture and grit, bands that sound like they actually play in a room together instead of emailing stems back and forth. Third album is an interesting spot for any band. The debut is the introduction, the second album is usually the scramble to prove the first one wasn't a fluke, and the third is where a band either figures out what they actually want to be or starts chasing something they've already lost. I'm curious which way this one goes.

What I can tell you is that third albums from bands I like tend to be where I either fully commit or quietly drift away. No middle ground. So consider me locked in for August 28.

And if you're already a fan and you're reading this, do me a favor: don't spoil the single for me before I get to it this weekend. Let me have the experience.
