remember when popcorn buckets were just... buckets? yeah those days are gone and I blame the Dune sandworm. ever since that thing became a whole cultural event every studio has been locked in an arms race to make the weirdest possible container for popcorn, and DC just escalated. a Clayface popcorn bucket has shown up at theaters ahead of the DCU horror movie's October release and it's exactly as creepy as you'd hope.

ComingSoon got the photos, and I need you to understand what we're dealing with here. it's a rounded container with a clay-like hand reaching up out of it. that's the whole design. a muck-brown Clayface hand, all lumpy and textured like something that just clawed its way out of the mud, coming out of the bucket like it's grabbing for your popcorn. which, if you think about it for even two seconds, means you're reaching past a horror monster's hand to grab a snack. in a dark theater. during a horror movie.

and I know some of you are already typing "it's just a popcorn bucket." it is NOT just a popcorn bucket. these things have become the souvenir now. collectible buckets are a whole thing, and a DCU horror movie getting one means DC feels pretty good about where Clayface is at. you don't spend money on weird merch for a movie you're not confident in.

if you've been sleeping on this one, Clayface is a horror movie set in the new DC Universe. an actual horror movie, not a superhero movie with jump scares sprinkled in. and like I said recently, fall belongs to horror now and no other genre is coming for it. a DC monster movie landing in October 2026 is the most obvious scheduling decision anyone's made all year.

the bucket showing up this far ahead of release is basically a soft launch. get the merch in the building, get people photographing it, get it on the FYP, and suddenly your Batman villain movie has an actual presence. same playbook as everything else, but it works here because the bucket is genuinely unsettling. whoever designed this did not blink. the clay texture on the hand, the way the fingers curl up out of the container, it reads like something from the movie itself and not a cafeteria tray with a logo slapped on.

no word yet on pricing, or whether it's full-size or one of those tiny lil collector ones that hold like four kernels, but the movie hits theaters in October so expect these to start popping up officially any week now. and if past collectible buckets are anything to go by, they'll sell out and end up reselling for way too much online. the circle of life.

I'm not even a merch person and I kind of want one. Grandma always said the best gadgets are the ones that do one thing perfectly, and this bucket's one job is being creepy, and it's nailing it. mission accomplished I guess.
