If you've been eyeing the King Hearts Collection for Switch 2, Nintendo Life has a heads-up for all of us: the whole thing clocks in at over 130GB of storage. Not a typo. That's a big chunk of a 256GB internal drive gone before you've downloaded a single other game.

Some perspective. The Switch 2 ships with 256GB internally, and a healthy slice of that is already reserved for the system itself. So one collection, however beloved, eats somewhere around half of your usable space. If you're the kind of person who keeps a dozen games installed at once, you're going to be making hard choices. Or, more realistically, you're going to be buying a bigger microSD Express card and telling yourself it was always the plan.

It makes sense when you look at what's actually in the box. The collection bundles a stack of games, HD remasters, cutscene compilations and all, and those HD assets and pre-rendered movies don't compress down to nothing. Square Enix has never been shy about file sizes. Anyone who's juggled FFXIV installs knows this pain personally, and I say that as someone who's cleared drive space for patch day more times than I can count.

This is just the reality of modern Switch 2 ownership now. Games are bigger, the ports are fuller-featured than the old cloud-based versions we got on the original Switch (remember when Kingdom Hearts ran via streaming and everyone flinched?), and actual downloads come with actual storage costs. The upside is we're getting real, native versions. The downside is your storage bar turns red and starts judging you.

My advice, as someone who has managed guild members' storage meltdowns on patch days: buy the biggest card your budget allows, not the one you think you'll need. You never need the one you think you'll need. That's true for MMO installs and it's true here.

Still, 130GB buys you a whole saga's worth of Disney worlds, Keyblade drama and the single most convoluted plot in gaming. Per gigabyte of story confusion, it's a bargain.

Anyone else already planning their Switch 2 storage shuffle around this one? What's your current free space situation looking like?
