It's a quiet-ish week on Disney+ compared to the Netflix dump I sorted through last week, but there's one release here that matters if you're riding the Avengers: Doomsday wave, and Disney knows it. The final Marvel show before Doomsday lands on the service this week, closing out the small-screen runway before the movie shows up and, presumably, rearranges the whole board. Superhero Hype has the full schedule for October 12 through 18, and it's worth a scroll even beyond the Marvel of it all.

I've said for a while that Disney+ tends to load its calendar with one big anchor and let the rest float, and that's basically the shape of this week. The MCU show is the anchor. Everything else is filler you might genuinely enjoy anyway, which is the Disney+ way. A classic title here, a nature thing there, maybe something for the kids so the whole household feels like the subscription earns its keep.

The timing on the Marvel show is the interesting part. Whoever decided this should land right before Doomsday knew what they were doing, because the Marvel streaming project tied to Doomsday already had people talking back in August, and now the TV side gets to feed straight into the theatrical event. If you've been keeping up with the Doomsday posters, the Thor of it all, the giant roster, this show is your last chance to walk in with everything fresh. My plan is to finish it the same week it drops so nothing gets spoiled at the water cooler, or whatever we call the group chat now.

Be realistic about the rest of the slate. Mid-October Disney+ weeks are never stacked, that's just the rhythm, and after the October flood we got on Netflix earlier this month a lighter week isn't bad. I still owe you my Animals review and my take on Epic - First Semester anyway, so a slower release week is a gift to my queue.

But the MCU entry is the headline, and it deserves to be. Whatever your feelings on the multiverse era, and mine have swung around plenty, a final show before a movie this big carries real weight. Marvel has spent years building toward Doomsday like it's the payoff, and the last TV piece of that puzzle landing now means the runway is officially over. From here it's all theater.

If you're a completist, this is a must-watch week. If you're a casual, it's probably still a must-watch week, because skipping the last show before Doomsday feels like walking into a season finale twenty minutes late. What are you queuing up first?
