labor day weekend is here and if your plan is "rot on the couch and watch something new," first of all, valid. second, there's actually a decent batch of stuff that just hit streaming, including a big Star Wars one.

Us Weekly rounded up the best new movies to watch this weekend and the headline grabber is The Mandalorian and Grogu, which is now available to stream. Mando and the little guy, on your TV, no ticket prices involved. that's the pitch. if you've been waiting to catch this one from your couch... this is your weekend.

The list also has a Theo James movie, which, okay. Theo James stays working and half of you only know him from the Divergent era but he's been doing genuinely interesting stuff since. not gonna spoil which film cause the roundup is worth clicking through, but it's a good pick if you want something that isn't a franchise.

And I get it, "best movies to stream this weekend" lists are everywhere. everyone's got one. but the difference between a good one and a lazy one is whether the person writing actually watched anything, and I'll be straight with you the way I always am: watch The Mandalorian and Grogu first. it's the obvious pick for a reason. sometimes the obvious pick is just correct.

then go digging. the long weekend gives you basically three days, which is either two movies and a nap or one movie watched in three sittings because you kept checking your phone. no judgment. I've done both in the same weekend.

Streaming-wise, September always creeps up on you, so enjoy this quieter moment before the fall avalanche hits. pour something cold, put the phone face down, and let Grogu do his thing.
