Busy stretch over at Paramount+ this week, and if you're anything like me you've got that one family member who watches NCIS roughly the way other people breathe. Good news for them: three different NCIS shows land on the service between now and October 11, plus a quirky mystery series arriving this week and a few other odds and ends.

The NCIS slate is the obvious headline. When one franchise can fill an entire week of a streamer's release calendar by itself, that tells you everything about why CBS keeps the machine running. These shows are comfort food, the procedural equivalent of a grilled cheese, and I mean that with genuine affection. There's a reason ratings for this universe never really die. You can drop in on any episode half-asleep and still follow along.

The more interesting pick for me is the mystery series. I won't pretend every quirky detective show works, because most of them try so hard to be charming they forget to be a mystery. But the ones that click, the ones that let the weirdness live next to actual detective work, become the shows people evangelize about at parties. I can't confirm the season number from the source material so I'll leave that alone, but a new arrival next to a franchise dump like this usually means the show earned its slot.

I rotate my subscriptions month to month, which I've mentioned before, and weeks like this are exactly why the method works. If you've been holding off on Paramount+, this is a reasonable moment to cash in a month. The NCIS drop gives you binge material that runs dozens of hours if you want it, and the mystery series gives you something with an actual pulse.

Jess Wingo keeps telling me I'm constitutionally incapable of recommending anything under six seasons long, and weeks like this don't help my case. But a library dump plus a promising newcomer is just more couch per dollar. I rest my case.

The full rundown, with dates and the complete list of everything hitting the service through October 11, is over at ComingSoon, and it's worth a scan before you commit your weekend.

As for me, I'm still working through my stack from last week, including the Animals verdict I owe you fine people. The mystery series might have to wait a few days. The NCIS marathon will be playing at my dad's house whether I plan for it or not. Some things in this business are constants.
