If you've been following the Japanese indie and retro scene lately, you may have run across the TottyVol2 GAME NEWS posts on Note. A new entry just went up, and it's one of those dense little news dumps that's worth a scroll even if you need a translator tab open next to it.

The format is simple and I kind of love it. No big production, no 15-minute video essay. Just a straight list of what's happening, led by a TottyVol2 update as the headliner and rounded out with whatever else made the cut this week. It reads like the good version of a Discord #news channel. The one where somebody actually pastes links instead of just posting reaction emojis.

And that's really the value here, right? This is a person watching a corner of the gaming world that most English-language coverage only samples. I've said before that community gaming lives and dies on the people who show up every week to write the patch notes nobody asked them to write. Well, this is that energy in newsletter form.

One honest caveat: the post is in Japanese, and the auto-translate on Note is serviceable but not pretty. Names get mangled occasionally, and game titles sometimes come through as word salad. Still readable, still useful. I mean, if you've ever mainlined a fan translation of an FFXIV patch memo at 2 a.m., this is nothing.

Worth keeping on your radar if you like seeing gaming news before it gets filtered, localized, and repackaged. Whether more entries follow, and on what schedule, I can't say for sure. But the latest post is up now. Does your gaming community have someone like this, the person who just quietly keeps the news flowing?
