USA Today just dropped their latest streaming roundup and it's actually useful this week, which is not always the case with these lists. Ten new movies across Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Prime Video, and Peacock, and a couple of them have been sitting on my watchlist anyway so this is a good excuse. You can see the full list right here.

The headline grabbers are The Death of Robin Hood and Sacrifice. The Robin Hood one stars Hugh Jackman as a grizzled, way-past-his-prime version of the legend, and I'm fully in on that premise. Like, that's the version of the story nobody makes and it's kind of about time.

Sacrifice is the horror comedy on Netflix with Chris Evans and Salma Hayek. That pairing alone is doing a lot of work. I have no idea what the actual vibe is going to be but Evans doing horror comedy after years of Captain America earnestness is the kind of left turn I'll always show up for.

I'll be real with you, I haven't watched all ten of these yet because I am one person with a full time job and a TikTok habit. But a list of ten new movies across five platforms in mid-October? I'll take it. Go through it yourself and I guarantee at least one description will hook you. tbh that's the best feeling a roundup can give you.

This is also just good timing. We're deep in October, which means every algorithm is shoving the same 15 horror classics at you again. You've seen them. You know every beat. A list of stuff that's actually new is a public service right now.

Dante would tell you to clear a whole weekend and watch all ten back to back, which is insane behavior, but he also thinks three hour movies are a reasonable Friday night so grain of salt. My move is picking two, maybe three, and saving the rest for when the FYP gets stale next week. It always does.

Anyway, go look at the list. If you watch one thing off it, make it The Death of Robin Hood or Sacrifice... those two are carrying the week.
