The wait just got real for one of the most devoted fandoms out there. Trailmark Games has announced a release window for Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest, and per Polygon, the game is coming this fall. So fans get their hands, or paws, on it soon, with the timing landing in the coming months instead of some vague "when it's done" shrug.

Quick context for anyone who missed this particular childhood: Clans of the Forest adapts Erin Hunter's long-running YA series about feral cat clans fighting over territory and survival in the forest. Polygon's piece is mostly about the release timing itself, so I'm not going to invent a feature list or pretend I've seen gameplay. What we know is a date exists now. For this crowd, that alone counts.

And this community has earned a real moment. I've watched fandoms come and go over two decades of MMO guild life, and the Warrior Cats crowd is one of the most persistent I've ever seen. These are readers who grew up naming their cats after characters, who ran Warrior Cats roleplay servers inside Club Penguin and Roblox and WolfQuest, who built whole communities out of whatever tools they had. There have been licensed Warrior Cats games before, smaller mobile efforts mostly, but a dedicated studio project with a locked release plan feels like a different tier of attention. Someone finally looked at this fandom and did the math.

How much of the fantasy actually makes it in, the character creation, the clan life, the territory drama, we'll have to wait on fuller previews to find out. I'd rather sit with that uncertainty than fill the space with wishful thinking. The release date is the story today, and it's a good one.

Fall it is, then. Start practicing your hunter's crouch.

If you grew up on these books, I want to hear from you: which clan were you, and don't say ThunderClan unless you can defend it. Some of us have opinions about RiverClan superiority and we're not quiet about it in the comments.
