Week 4 is where DFS gets tricky. The bye weeks haven't started yet, but the injuries have, and pricing on the main slates still hasn't caught up to a bunch of role changes from the first three weeks. That gap between what a guy is doing and what he costs is the whole game. Fox Sports dropped its Week 4 DFS picks and lineup advice this week, and the board sets up nicely for anyone willing to dig past the chalk.

My framing for Week 4, same as every week: I'm a usage guy. Targets, routes, snap counts, red-zone touches. Touchdowns are noisy and they lie to you on Monday morning. A receiver running 90 percent of the routes with a 27 percent target share is a building block whether he found the end zone or not, and the receiver who caught two garbage-time scores on four targets is a trap. Ray Delgado gives me grief for this, says the eyeballs don't need a spreadsheet to spot a good player, and every once in a while the old man's right. But he's not the one cashing lineups.

The core strategy this week is the standard one that still works: pay down at one of the flex spots, load up at quarterback and the pass catchers attached to him. Stacking a QB with two of his weapons in the same game environment gives you correlated points, and correlated points are how small-field lineups beat the field. If you're playing a single-entry contest, one stack and a value punt is plenty. Multi-entry, you can build around the highest total on the board and get weird in the flex.

Where the value lives this week is the same place it always lives after three weeks of football: backs and receivers who inherited roles through injury and haven't been repriced yet. Those are the plays that let you afford the premium guys. If a running back just went from 40 percent of the snaps to 70 percent and his salary moved by $200, that's free money until the pricing algorithm wakes up.

Sleepers are just usage plays wearing a costume. You want the cheap guy who out-snaps his salary, and the hype-tweet guy from a beat writer usually isn't him. Check the practice reports Friday, check the snap counts from last week, and if the two agree, you've got your punt play.

One process note for the season-long crowd: I'm keeping the receipts ledger going, same as I promised. Every cash, every whiff, every week I finish behind Deb in the home league while I sit here lecturing you about correlation. She's 3-0. I'm 2-1. The ledger doesn't lie and neither will the midseason grades. Trust me on this part even if you ignore my flex advice.

So who's on your Week 4 roster? Drop your value play in the comments, and if it's a guy I faded, I'll tell you exactly why you're wrong. Arguing about it in the comments is half the reason I do this.
