It's Monday, the couch is calling, and the streaming services did not take the week off. Forbes has the full day-by-day breakdown for October 12 through October 18, and it spans Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, Disney+ and beyond, English-language and otherwise. I went through it so you don't have to. That's the job. Someone's gotta sit here.

A few things jump out. There are plenty of returning shows on the list alongside the new stuff, and personally, returning shows are my favorite kind of week because you already know if you're in. No gambling on a pilot. No committing three episodes deep just to find out a show is secretly about a cop who sees ghosts. You know exactly what you signed up for.

Netflix is doing its usual firehose thing, and I've said this before but it keeps being true: the platform drops titles with almost no promotion, and a lot of them slip by before anyone notices they arrived. If something on the list looks even slightly interesting, watch it this week, not next month. The algorithm giveth and the algorithm buries.

Disney+ is on the list too, and I'll just note my long-standing read there: the service structures each week around one big anchor release and treats the rest as appetizers. Your mileage may vary, but it means I can usually plan my Disney+ viewing in about ninety seconds, which is weirdly efficient.

The non-English picks deserve more attention than they usually get, in my opinion. Some of the best stuff I've watched this year came from scrolling past the English menu, and I'll keep banging that drum until people listen. My fall watchlist from the other week is proof enough of that. It's the weird unknown pick you remember, not the safe one.

I'm also still working through my own pile, for the record. My Animals review is nearly done, and I still owe a take on Epic - First Semester, which has been sitting in my queue giving me the side-eye. This week's new arrivals are not helping my backlog at all. They never do. Every Monday I tell myself I'll catch up and every Sunday the queue is somehow longer.

So my advice: don't treat this week like homework. Pick one returning favorite, one thing you've never heard of, and let the rest go. The full schedule with exact dates and platforms is over at Forbes, and it's worth bookmarking if you like knowing what's landing on which day instead of stumbling around the home screen at 9 p.m. like I usually do.

And if you finish the week with something you loved that nobody's talking about, tell me. My queue can get worse. It's fine. I've made peace with it.
