Every so often a 90s movie that absolutely nobody asked for starts blowing up again because someone on tiktok or letterboxd rediscovers it and goes "wait, this is REAL?" that's what's happening with Ice Cream Man, the 1995 horror movie starring Clint Howard as a disturbed ice cream truck driver who, and i cannot stress this enough, puts people into his ice cream.

its unhinged. it rules.

if you're reading this you probably already know all that and just want to know where to watch it. So. According to Decider's streaming guide, Ice Cream Man is on Fandango at Home, which is Vudu. Free with ads, no subscription. Just pull it up and go.

not on Netflix tho, so don't bother looking there.

If you haven't seen it Ice Cream Man feels like a literal fever dream. Clint Howard plays Gregory Tudor, a guy who learned his ice cream craft while institutionalized and comes out the other side completely cracked. Kids investigating mysteries, body parts in the frozen treats, and a performance from Howard that is just... fully committed. Like he showed up and decided this was his Oscar movie. The man does not hold back.

The supporting cast is straight up wild too. Olivia Hussey is in this. David Warner. Jan-Michael Vincent. real actors showing up for a movie about a killer ice cream man and they are giving it their ALL. Everyone involved treats the material like it matters, and somehow that makes the whole thing more unsettling and more fun at the same time.

My grandma Elizabeth once told me the best tech is the kind you don't even notice, and i think the same thing applies to horror honestly. The best cult movies just pull you in without you realizing how weird things have gotten until you're 40 minutes deep and someone's hand is in a waffle cone. Ice Cream Man does exactly that.

Dante would probably tell me this movie is too short and too ridiculous to take seriously. And... he's not wrong! That's the point. Not everything needs to be a three-hour thing. Sometimes you just need Clint Howard serving up nightmare sundaes.

So go fire up Fandango at Home tonight. Watch it with friends if you can, because cult horror is always better when you can yell at the screen together. And maybe skip the ice cream for the evening.
