mid September and the release calendar is somehow still chaos, in a good way. Yahoo just dropped its latest video roundup, and the format is simple. One new release in theaters this weekend, one new pick in home entertainment. Two reviews, two very different ways to watch a movie, and honestly both halves are worth a few minutes of your time.

What I like about roundups like this is they treat going out and staying in as two equally valid options instead of making it a whole thing. Some weekends you want the theater. Giant screen, crowd noise, the overpriced popcorn you buy anyway. Other weekends you want to be horizontal on your couch by 8pm with a blanket and a pause button. Both are correct!! Anyone telling you one is the "real" way to watch movies is straight up being a snob about it.

Since the source is a video, I can't break down the specific picks in writing without just guessing, and I'm not doing that to you. My grandma taught me early that guessing dressed up as reporting is still just guessing. So the deal is: click through, watch the reviews, and figure out which side of the couch/theater line you're on this weekend.

September is a weird stretch for watching stuff either way, and I mean that fondly. Summer's mostly wrapped, the end-of-year heavy hitters aren't quite here yet, and everything in between is fair game. You can catch something loud one night and something quieter the next and feel zero guilt about either.

Anyway. My plan is to watch the video, pick a lane, and then probably do both anyway. What are you seeing this weekend? Genuinely asking, my watchlist is a disaster rn.
