OK so you know how sometimes you go looking for one thing and the universe goes 'nah, here's THIS instead'? According to the source, Dr. Mark Holley was running a deep sea sonar scan, looking for a lost shipwreck, and found something the only official description calls 'incredibly strange.' And then they just... stop there. That is the entire description. And weirdly that vagueness is my favorite part?

Because think about what that means. Something strange enough to make a whole TV segment about, strange enough that nobody involved is ready to say what it actually is, just sitting there in the dark under all that water. The people involved looked at the sonar data and went 'huh' loudly enough that it ended up on television, specifically on Mysteries Unearthed with Danny Trejo.

Which is genuinely the correct hosting choice, by the way, because if anyone is going to walk me through an unexplained underwater find with the appropriate amount of gravel-voiced gravitas, it's the guy from Spy Kids.

What do we actually know? Not much, and I'm kind of delighted about that. A sonar scan. A search for a lost shipwreck. Something incredibly strange on the readout instead. The segment calls it a 'groundbreaking structure,' which raises about a hundred questions I don't have answers to yet.

Unexplained doesn't mean unexplainable. Somebody's going to take a closer look eventually, and I'll be first in line for whatever footage comes back. But until then we get to sit with the delicious not-knowing of it all, and a strange something on a sonar screen is exactly the flavor of weird I want from this world.
