OK so you know how some people get bored on the weekend and decide to reorganize their pantry or finally try that sourdough recipe? Funky Matas, a tattoo artist based in Miami, looked at his free time and said "what if I jump out of a plane and tattoo myself on the way down."

And he actually did it. He jumped from 15,000 feet and tattooed one single word onto his own leg during the skydive. The word? "BOOOM." With three O's. Because apparently one just didn't capture the energy of what was happening.

This got him the Guinness World Record for highest altitude skydive while performing a self-tattoo, which is a category so specific that I genuinely love that someone created it and someone else said "yeah I'll break that." According to People, Matas pulled this off under seriously intense conditions that would make most people's hands shake just thinking about it.

And the tattoo itself is... well, it's not going to win any awards for clean line work. But that is so completely not the point. the point is that a man tattooed himself while hurtling toward Earth from 15,000 feet and the ink is still there and he has a world record now.

Like, there are easier ways to get a tattoo. There are easier ways to set a world record. There are easier ways to spend a Tuesday. But Funky Matas decided to do both at the same time, in the sky, while the ground was rushing up at him.

The man literally combined two things that should never be combined and walked away with a record and a very shaky "BOOOM" on his leg and honestly that's the most triumphant thing I've heard all week. Some people are just built different, and by different I mean completely unhinged in the best possible way.
